The best poster in the world, dumb ways to die Game of Thrones style, and a car ad that made us cry
Whoah, where’s the fire? Oh, right, it’s Friday, which means everyone and their grandmother is rushing to get out of the office and into some happy hour fun. Before you run off, here are this week’s marketing winners to spark your weekend inspiration.
Carlsberg’s billboard is probably the best ever
Speaking of happy hour… Advertising posters are usually eye sores (or eye candy — guess it depends on what’s on the poster), but the one that Carlsberg installed in London is definitely enticing its eyeballers to get up close and personal. The Danish brewer had put up a billboard with nothing but the words “Probably the best poster in the world” and a beer tap in the middle.
Yes, it was fully functional and completely free. No, we’re not getting one in Manila anytime soon.
Finally, somebody made a Game of Thrones parody of “Dumb Ways to Die”
Everybody thought “Dumb Ways to Die” was pure genius when it came out. After all, safety PSAs are always dead serious (see what we did there?) and boring, but this one was impossibly cute and incredibly shareable.
We didn’t think it could better, until animator Egor Zhgun turned it into a parody of everybody’s favorite bloodfest. The only thing we didn’t like was how long it took to happen, because of course. Warning: spoilers.
Hyundai sends a message to space
In January 18, the Korean automaker sent 11 Hyundai Genesis out into Nevada’s Delamar Dry Lake. Their purpose: to carve a message in the sand big enough so that 13-year-old Stephanie’s dad could see it from the International Space Station. Even more impressive, the message was written using Stephanie’s handwriting. Watch the video to see how they did it.
Besides wrenching not a few hearts, Hyundai also set a Guinness World Record for “the largest tire track image”.
